Honorable Mention, 6th The Far Eastern Architectural Design Award, 2007-Taiwan High Speed Rail Hsinchu Station.
Kris Yao’s “Taiwan High Speed Rail Hsinchu Station” had won the honorable mention of the 6th The Far Eastern Architectural Design Award was announced. The THSR Hsinchu Station’s perfect integration of structural construction and architecture design had been specially remarked by the juries. The building’s design quality was reviewed to run neck to neck with the European or US designers. Liu Yu-dong pointed out that in the past, most of the large construction projects in Taiwan were often constrained by the structural engineers, architects were merely a bit part of the whole picture; however, in this particular project, Kris Yao had successfully taken charge to fully expressed the beauty of the station. The project had a significant meaning to the public construction projects in Taiwan.
