Feng Zikai Art Center is located in Tongxiang City, the hinterland of the Hangjiahu Plain in northern Zhejiang, with superior geographical conditions and a developed transportation system. The territory is flat with dense river network and beautiful environment, which is a typical Jiangnan water town. Tongxiang has a long history and profound cultural heritage. It has nurtured many contemporary celebrities such as Feng Zikai. It is also the awarding venue of Wuzhen International Drama Festival, Zikai Cup National Comics Exhibition, Feng Zikai Chinese and Foreign Prose Award, and Mao Dun Literature Newcomer Award Venue.
In order to demonstrate the art spirit of Tongxiang culture and the great master of Chinese modern culture Feng Zikai, the design is in an integrated art center with an open green space on the east side of the plot. The plot on the side of the Phoenix Lake Avenue only needs to be greened and upgraded, and the modern data-style of the theme building of the Art Center is continued in the landscape, extending the visual context and the volume of the art center, so that the East and West plots are perfectly integrated and become a complete Feng Zikai Art Center Park will become the cultural and artistic base and creation center of the Yangtze River Delta in the future.
This project contains two parts: the art center and the reception center. Among them, the art center includes gallery that holds national and international exhibitions, artist studios, and a concert hall; while the reception center includes conference center, restaurants, and reception spaces. The design of the art center adopts modern design techniques, and through pure geometric modeling, the importance and relevance of the main functions are reflected in the layout. The use of traditional Chinese window lattice elements as the surface curtain wall on the facade of the museum can not only create a vivid light and shadow effect for the interior space, but also echo the old windows of Mr. Feng Zikai's former residence.
