Hupan University is founded by nine Chinese famous entrepreneurs and scholars, and Mr. Jack Ma is the Principal. The school aims to cultivate a generation of entrepreneurs with a renewed entrepreneurial spirit.
The new campus is in Hangzhou. The site is surrounded by water in three sides. The project has presented a unique modern Chinese garden campus enclosed in a ring-like building, which is 160-meter in diameter and three-story tall.
The common facilities in the campus are arranged in a sequential route around the central lake, and are designed with large view-out windows to enjoy the garden scene and to reinforce the visual connections of different groups of occupants. The antique pavilion at the lake center is served as a reception hall, and is also the visual focal element to people when meandering around the campus. The southeast corner and in the ring-shaped building areas are the quieter spaces for administration offices, private studies and meditation use.
The silver roof has a total area of approximately 4,600 square meters. Together with the garden corridors, they create a series of semi-outdoor spaces for various activities use. The campus' appearance uses simple white wash walls and gray tiles to enhance the color palette of the southern Chinese traditional architecture.
