Le Meridien Hotel and Office Complex aims to convey client’s hope for innovative and sound design through expression of subtlety, elegance, and also fashionable sense. It has a high-rise office tower at the north and a low-rise hotel and commercial spaces at the south, connected by a health recreational center which creates a courtyard plaza. The building is intentionally set back to allow open space for extending the pedestrian section of the Xinyi District.
The materials on the lower levels of the hotel building accentuate its commercial function. The façades of the two volumes are designed in a firm and calm data-style, but with different elevation treatment. The hotel building adopts dynamic openings, while the office building uses modular system, and thus creates a dramatic opposing effect. A glass volume on the roof cap brings focus to the building at night.
